Early voting began Tuesday for the school millage election proposed by Fayetteville Public Schools to generate revenue to renovate and construct a new high school on the grounds of the current facilities. Any voter registered in the Fayetteville school district can take part. The campaign to pass the millage is called "A+ Stronger Fayetteville" and claims that "after years of public input about the future of our high school, we have the opportunity to vote FOR a new Fayetteville High School. For a small investment, we can make a commitment to Fayetteville’s kids, community, and future."
There have been some opponents to the millage, mostly from anti-tax groups and tea-baggers. The election will most likely be very close though, given the economic climate and the general public's hostility to tax increases right now.
The Washington County courthouse is located at the end of Dickson Street at:
280 N. College Avenue
Fayetteville, AR 72701
Early voting continues through election day, next Tuesday, September 15.
