Yesterday, Fayetteville Alderman Matthew Petty joined the UA Young Democrats for a small forum on his campaign for Fayetteville City Council and his thoughts on youth participation in politics, and emerging campaign tactics for the 21st century. A handful of Young Dems showed up for the discussion, where Alderman Petty laid out his campaign strategy and how he managed to put together a "green" platform of economy and ecology. He also talked about tailoring his strategy and platform to his specific constituency, and his use of new media techniques versus traditional methods like canvassing and phone banking.
