The President Wins Public Support For Health Insurance Reform in Speech to a Joint Session of Congress

President Obama spoke tonight to a Joint Session of Congress where the House and Senate members joined together to hear the President's message to Congress and the nation. Here is the full speech:

The response to the speech was overwhelmingly positive according to a CNN poll which showed that 72% of those who watched the speech thought he clearly stated his health care goals. Most significantly, support for his plan before his speech was at at 53% and opposition was at 36%. However, after the speech there was a 21 point swing in public opinion. The poll showed that 67% now support the plan and only 29% are against it.
